Why Do I Need a Fuel System Cleanings service?

The Fuel System

A vehicle’s fuel system typically consists of a fuel pump, located in the tank, a fuel filter and injectors.  The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank where it pumps fuel out to the engine.  The fuel filter is somewhere along the way between the fuel tank and the engine.  Its job is to filter out dirt as well as contaminants before it gets to the engine.  Afterward, the fuel intake system and the fuel injectors deliver the fuel to be burned in the engine.

Injectors spray the necessary quantity of atomized fuel under high pressure for combustion in the cylinders and are a critical component.  The spray nozzle is as small as the head of a pin and can get clogged if dirt gets stuck in it.

The Cleaning

Our Fuel System Cleanings services are necessary if you feel you’d like to increase performance and efficiency in the motor of your car, truck or SUV.  Cleanings improve idling and fuel efficiency.  They also reduce harmful emissions.  Additionally, reduce corrosion and rusting.  The lubricants also help to keep metal parts moving efficiency and therefore lasting longer.

Proper maintenance of your fuel system helps to catch common issues, such as faulty sensors or buildup on components.  The buildup can degrade components and cause them to stop working or lead to clogging that prevents the system from operating properly.  Monitor your vehicle for the following indicators that a fuel system cleaning is needed:

  • Starts roughly
  • Shudders when idling
  • Loses power when going uphill or towing
  • Slow engine response when pressing the gas pedal
  • Slow acceleration

The cleanings include parts such as the throttle body and air intake.  They also include the removal of gum and varnish build up.  Additionally, they clean the fuel intake system.  They are safe for use on electrical parts as well as oxygen sensors and catalytic converters.

We do these cleanings so that our customers can keep their vehicles running longer and better.  So, it is fair to conclude that since cleanings that can do all this, it is NOT something you want to dismiss.

That’s why we always keep the kits handy and in stock.  We understand that it costs a bit up front, but could save lots in the long run.

How Often Do I Need It?

Cleanings should b done as needed.  Also, lean on us at Lube Stop for advice.  We use a system of processes called Precision Based Recommendations to help investigate a vehicle’s overall condition.  This system of inspection and trouble shooting helps us get a clearer picture of your car, truck, or SUV as it stands, today.  That is because it removes the guess work.  Learn more about this system below.

Context for these Services

Your vehicle uses an internal combustion engine.  This engine uses the combustion of fuel to power almost everything.  This is done when fuel alongside an air oxidizer and spark plugs creates a working fluid flow circuit inside a combustion chamber.

In your internal combustion engine, the expansion of the high-temperature and high-pressure gases produced by combustion applies direct force to some component of the engine.  The force is applied typically to pistons, turbine blades, rotors, and nozzles.  This force moves the component over a distance, transforming chemical energy into useful work.

Typically, your combustion engine is fed with fossil fuels like natural gas or petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel fuel or fuel oil.  Your engine is the hub for many things, including those listed below.

  • combustion chamber
  • cylinder head
  • camshaft
  • set of spark plugs
  • valvetrain
  • valves
  • rocker arms
  • pushrods
  • lifters
  • fuel injectors
  • pistons
  • connecting rods
  • engine block
  • crankcase
  • crankshaft
  • timing system
  • timing chain

All these work in unison to power all the other systems within your vehicle.  Without a fully functioning engine, everything else suffers.  So, let us at Lube Stop keep your engine functioning and everything else that relies on it.
